about
This is an ode to racial equality, channeling my own experiences, and the strength of feeling across POC communities, ignited and inspired by the awakening in the wake of George Floyd's tragic death earlier this year.
It is my artistic expression of emotions felt in the wake of the conversations that happened around that time, and if it gets you thinking and dreaming of a better world then that's something I think we can all get behind...
lyrics
400 years brought us,
Unnumbered tears, so we’ve gone,
Cold turkey on the rules today, we called the,
Poor anarchists and,
With roars, animals, til,
The call the peace is now a call for war!
I don’t wanna fight this battle no more, it’s just,
Too Hard, and it’s just, Too Raw, But I am,
Not the pacificist I was before, peace is,
Too Easy, And we’re, Too Poor,
It’s like trynna calm a sea!
It’s one system versus,
One people, they just,
Use force cause they ain’t got no words, there is,
No reason we shoulda been played this way, but we’ve got,
So many reasons to be fighting for change,
I don’t wanna fight this battle no more, it’s just,
Too Hard, and it’s just, Too Raw, But I am,
Not the pacificist I was before, peace is,
Too Easy, And we’re, Too Poor,
It’s like trynna calm a sea!
We gotta settle this right now!
We gotta settle this right now!
We gotta settle this right now!
We gotta figure it out
I’ve been called names, I’ve been,
Hit, blamed, punished,
We’re all the same, that’s what they’d prefer,
Now it shows us the way forward,
What can’t be stayed must be,
Unleashed upon those who would keep us in chains,
I don’t wanna fight this battle no more, it’s just,
Too Hard, and it’s just, Too Raw, But I am,
Not the pacificist I was before, peace is,
Too Easy, And we’re, Too Poor,
It’s like trynna calm a sea!
I feel it rising in me
You cannot calm my sea!
